DIY Marquees now sells Indirect Marquee Heaters

Marquees have always been a popular and sought-after option as an alternative to your regular venue hire options. This is mainly attributed to the unique sense of style which can be created when using a marquee as your preferred venue option. There is nothing quite like creating the specific ambiance, mood and atmosphere, as when you design and decorate your marquee venue, tailormade to your desires.

Notwithstanding the many great benefits of the marquee as the ultimate venue option, there are some aspects relating to the logistics of marquees that can leave some feeling unsure of whether the outcome is worth the effort. Stop and take a minute as we discuss some of the issues which may leave you feeling reluctant to opt for the marquee option.

  1. Its cold.

Yes, this is the UK and no one has ever claimed to have all the answers when it comes to the various weather-patterns resulting in our world-famous reputation for having 4 seasons in 1 day! Its true that using a marquee might leave you vulnerable to various elements however there is always an innovative solution to any element. So, you want to know how to heat your marquee, DIY Marquees would recommend setting up a powerful, indirect heater which will disperse heat through out the marquee. Situated at the entrance of the marquee facing towards the inside, your marquee will be cozy in a matter of minutes. For a larger marquee, add smaller indirect heaters at the corner and other such “dead” spaces where people are not mingling. That way you can prevent the cold from seeping in and keep your guest’s toasty.

  1. Not all terrains are made equal.

Anyone who has attended a glamourous event, hosted on a grassy terrain, knows how hard it can be to prevent your £1,245 Maisel 100 faux pearl-embellished, paper-thin stiletto Jimmy Choo heels from sinking into the grass below you, sending you tumbling into an embarrassing social faux-par! To ensure the ultimate comfort of your guests, you would want to place your marquee on a solid, even surface, but the question remains: How to anchor your marquee down on hard surfaces? Your traditional tie-downs will not work on a solid surface, so alternatives include bolting or drilling holes in the footplate, to which you can place straps to secure the marquee. Alternatively, use heavy weights, such as a concrete block, strapped directly to the marquee. No concrete blocks available, strap the marquee to a strategically placed car, or lead a strap through to a near-by grassy patch.

  1. Once size does not fit all

This concept apparently works in retail however we all know the truth is that there is no 1 solution or product which will suit everyone’s needs. Attempting to squeeze everyone into a one size fits all marquee, will not work. Luckily, DIY Marquees has the perfect solution to help customers to create a marquee perfect for their needs. From the size of the marquee, to the shape, space, function and location, visit the website’s Marquee Planner to create a replica to help you check all the boxes.

Plan the perfect function with DIY Marquee’s help

At DIY Marquees we design all of our heavy duty marquees for sale to be as easy to erect as possible, most of our marquees only use two different lengths of pole so that even over time they are still easy to recognise and erect. No previous experience of erecting marquees is required, our instructions and videos will guide you through step by step exactly how to erect each marquee to professional standards.

When marquees are erected over grass they can suffer from extreme condensation, this is due to the water vapour grass gives off. For this reason any quality marquee flooring should have a non-breathable layer fitted underneath, this prevents the grass giving off water vapour and thereby mostly avoids excessive condensation. Even when laying a wooden floor inside a marquee a non-breathable layer should be fitted first.

The covers on marquees are usually made from PE, poly/PVC or PVC.

PE (polyethylene) is the cheapest covering and is similar to tarpaulin material; it can be crackly to the touch but certainly has many uses in the domestic market. As with any marquee covering always ensure you only use material that is flame retardant to British Standards.

Poly/PVC is a thin material that is given a PVC backing to make it waterproof. It is rarely used in the manufacture of marquees now as PE is more cost-effective and true PVC is more durable.

PVC is now the most popular material for marquee roofs and sides. It is very durable and can be given a lacquer coating for ease of cleaning. PVC is usually quoted in grams per square metre (gsm) though this can be a little misleading. There are many many different qualities of 500gsm for example such that a good quality 500gsm PVC will often outperform thicker cheap 600-700gsm PVC.

Durable heavy duty marquees for sale

See what DIY Marquee is up to in October…. Check out their range of party tents for sale.

The showman’s show is next month (23rd & 24th October) at The Newbury Showground. We are on stand E277 -as usual come out of the main entrance marquee, turn right then left and we’re on the right.

I’m not sure exactly what we’re going to be exhibiting at the show, we’re very busy but in the midst of chaos from an extension being built to prepare for new product lines we’ll be stocking next year (more on that later in the year). We should have something new and interesting to look at so do pop in for a chocolate or two.

Panoramic windows are now back in stock. We’ve also introduced a 6x24m marquee for sale. It’s very big (and very heavy!) but it adds to our commercial and deluxe ranges.

Over the next week we’re also introducing a commercial pop-up range. We’re not going to stock lots of ranges of pop-ups we’re just aiming to offer the best and toughest one. It has 58mm aluminium framework and a very durable 500d coated roof and sides so should prove very effective for hire companies or people who want something stronger than the garden centre gazebos.

So if you are interested in marquee for sale go along and visit them at the show!
